• 「what it's like to do sth.」本來如果沒有「do you know」前置的話, 應該是寫成「what is it」, 但現在因為嵌套在另一個句子里面, 所以這里順序調整成正常陳述句, 舉個例子

• 「critical」挑剔
• 「every single thing」很典型的美式夸張用法, 同樣還出現在:
  • S02E11 Chandler: Well now you understand how I feel every single day, ok? //The Lesbian Wedding 上 Joey 說自己看到一群 Lesbian 就好像失去力量的超人一樣
  • S01E03 Chandler: And Ross, with his over-pronouncing every single word? //大家表示受不了 Chandler 的冷笑話, 他就舉出所有人最明顯的缺點, Ross 的則是一定要很清楚地發清楚每一個詞的音, 所以這里這樣強調

• 「turned out to be」表示結局是怎樣 / 結果是怎樣, 通常是接 sth. unspective (不愿意看到的事情)
  • S05E03 Chandler: So uh, now that little Chandler turned out to be a girl //Phoebe 生的第三個寶寶本來打算取名「Chandler」
  • S09E23 Charlie: I was enganged to a guy who turned out to be gay!
  • S01E07 Rachel: Well, the cat... the cat turned out to be Paolo's cat!
• 「positive」正能量
• 「life-affirming」對生活呈積極態度
• if 從句如果用的時態是一般過去時 (had / was / would) , 這里是虛擬語氣, 用來假設沒發生的事
• 「drive sb. crazy / nuts / insane」把某人逼瘋
• 和第一個重點一樣, 「what you're getting at」放在了另一個句子里才正裝成陳述句, 否則應該是「what are you getting at?」
• • 「if you'd just told her the truth」正常時態應該是 you tell her the truth, 但這里因為和過去相反, 所以 if 從句要用 would + 過去完成時
  • 「things would've been better」同上, 所以把主句 things are better 變成現在這樣, 這種用法還出現在:
    • S04E13 Chandler: You know if I had just called her after our big, stupid fight, she never would've gone out with Nick. //就是 Chandler 誤會 Kathy 之后沒直接打電話那次

• 「things are better left unsaid」這里 left 是 leave 的被動語態, 表示有些事情還是沒有被說會更好

• 「some things are」里面的 things are 連讀成 thing-sar
• 「just get along」前面爆破音失去爆破, 后面 get along 連讀成 geta-long
• 「I think so.」是少數「爆破音 + 輔音」不失去爆破的情況, 因為英語里面有專門的 [ks] 的發音, 比如這幾個單詞里的 [ks]
