*1. Describe a situation where you had to deal with multiple tasks/projects within a tight deadline. Explain the situation, your actions and the result.
At the end of the last semester, I faced with multiple assignments, three exams in a week, and also learned that my father was going to have an operation.
I did three things altogether: The first thing is to stabilize emotions. I decided to review for the exams first in school before heading home to look after my father. The second thing is to determine the importance and urgency of the three subjects based on the learning situation, credit weight and time sequence, and to make a weekly plan. Then I followed the weekly plan to perform each day's tasks, and adjusted the daily tasks according to the actual situation. The third thing is that I immediately returned home after the examinations, arrived at the hospital while my father was undergoing surgery, and took care of him for ten days until he left there.
In the end, my father gradually pulled through and I got A+ in Econometrics, A in MNC Management and Financial Management.
*2. Think of a situation where you have made a significant contribution to the team's success. Describe the situation, your role and contribution, and the result.
Last winter holiday, I took part in a competition named Global Social Enterprise Competition. Duo to cultural differences, our questionnaire couldn’t work in USA, so we had to change our plan A two days before the competition began.
As a captain, I mainly played three roles. The first role was the host. After deciding to change the plan, I used the Six Thinking Hats method to lead the team to brainstorm.We quickly came up with plan B and reached the agreement that is to make a APP that helps people to meditate. The second role is the resource distributor. According to the strengths and wishes of everyone in the team, I divided the team into two groups. One group consists of students with strong writing and analyzing abilities. Another group is made up of students who are good at making PPT and presentation, who are mainly responsible for the final presentation.The third role is the encourager. when teammates was tired and depressed, I encouraged them to stick to it by sharing dreams with each other.
In the end, our team successfully completed the 12000 word business plan and the final presentation. We won the 4th place among 12 participating teams. Most importantly, we received our precious friendship.
*3. Provide an example where you creatively addressed a complex problem. Explain the situation, your thought process, your approach and the outcome.
During the Spring Festival, I went to Beijing to participate in a team case analysis competition. we were required to provide a strategic plan for FAW Group to enter the new energy vehicles field as consultants and make a presentation in English within 12 hours.
As the team leader, I solved the problem from two aspects. One is the content and the other is the form of the presentation. The content is the core.without substantial content, the result means nothing. Besides, if we can use an appropriate presentation form, our strategic plan will be showed better.
In terms of content, I proposed a two-legged strategy based on the analysis of the potential of the new energy vehicle market, the environment of green car industry and the advantages and disadvantages of FAW Group. One leg is to revitalize the Hongqi brand strategy, which means we can combine new energy technologies with the brand awareness of Hongqi to design green cars with a sense of science and technology and feelings; the other leg is supporting service strategy, which means we can cooperate with charging pile enterprises and Mobike to provide more convenience for the users.
In terms of presentation, I decided to choose a role-playing approach based on our role as a consultant. We supposed the judges as senior exclusives of FAW Group and presented them in the form of a plan report. First of all, we went straight to our two-legged strategy. And then we explained why and how we got this plan.
Finally, under the cooperation of the whole team, our team has won the first prize in five teams, and I was lucky enough to get the best performance personal award.
