影片中男主人公保羅是一名二戰(zhàn)復(fù)員歸來(lái)的軍人，滿懷心切的踏上回家的路，發(fā)現(xiàn)妻子跟自己已不再熟悉，好多要說(shuō)的話也無(wú)人分享，第二天保羅又啟程離開(kāi)了，在火車(chē)上一次偶然的機(jī)會(huì)認(rèn)識(shí)了維多利亞，可能冥冥之中是命運(yùn)的安排，兩人之后更是一起經(jīng)歷了家族的劫難，最后發(fā)現(xiàn)彼此深深的愛(ài)上了對(duì)方，而此時(shí)，保羅的妻子也準(zhǔn)備與他離婚，擺脫了婚姻束縛的保羅，開(kāi)始了自由的人生，飛奔到愛(ài)人的身邊，從此不離不棄共度此生。
