科學天才理查德·費曼(Richard Feynman)寫下了著名的《別鬧了，費曼先生》，并且因在量子電動力學方面的貢獻獲得1965年諾貝爾物理學獎。他的《物理學講義》更是大學物理專業學生的必備教材。
費曼曾經在《科學的價值》一文中描寫了自己經歷過的一種異常強烈而奇妙的發現感受，他驚嘆全神投入到思考中的人具有如此神奇的想象力，并為此寫了一首極富想象力的詩《我站在海邊》記錄下那電光石火的一剎那的感受。
在這首詩之前，作者寫了一段話，提出科學思考的想象力不比神話差，甚至更加吸引人，他是這樣說的：
我們一直被引導著去對各種事物進行想象，想象得比詩人和夢想家所想象的更是美妙無窮。看來大自然的想象比入的想象還要奇特。讓我們舉個例子。曾有人想象，說人類都是住在一頭大象的背上，大象由一個大龜馱著，這只龜正在無底的海洋之上游來游去；還有另外一個想象：我們所有的人，都由一種莫名其妙的力量吸著貼在旋轉了億萬年之久的一個太空球體上，而且半數的人還是頭朝下腳朝上；這兩種想象，究竟哪一個更使人感到驚奇？
我常常想這些奇妙的東西，這些從前人們根本不可想象，而如今科學知識使我們可以想象的東西。

然后理查德費曼站在海邊的沙灘上，陷入了深思，并創作了一首酣暢淋漓、極富想象力的詩：（以下詩配圖，圖下文字和是個人理解：）

最后作者感嘆到：
在我們對任何問題思考得足夠深遠的時候，這種動人心弦，使人敬畏，高深莫測的感覺就會一再出現。有了更多的知識，就會出現更為深奧美妙的迷幻，誘使著人們去進一步深入探索。從來也不在乎結果是否會使人失望，我們愉快地、滿有信心地翻動每塊沒有翻過的石頭，尋找從未料到的奇異景物，從中導出更多美好的問題和疑問。這真是偉大的探究！
這說明即使是深奧的科學背后，同樣是和文學創作背后一樣需要想象、激情！
