Good morning,everyone.it’s my great honor to give this speech.
Today,my topic is gap year. Many graduates from high school or college,or some adults who want a career break,choose to postpone their traditional academic plans and have a ?national or global backpack trip and sometimes volunteer along the way. It usually cost one year so we call it the gap year.
The gap year is a buzzword.At first,it was created in western countries and now,it is very popular in China.In my mind or in most of my peers’mind,the gap year is an opportunity for our students to explore our interests, develop a purpose for our future ,enrich life experience,and learn different skills and languages.And we can step out of the comfort zone built by our parents’love and care and get to know the shadow of the society and the world.For example,there was a sad story,one graduate of high school was cheated by some liars and those bad guys took away her tuition.The girl was so shocked and heart-broken that one young and precious life was ended.The small flower buds faded in the gales of social evil.
However, most of Chinese parents oppose this request.They think it is too risky for their children to travel by themselves.What if their children came across robbery or gunplay,terrorists or extremist?What if they lost their wallet ,baggage,map,or phones?But now,we can see the changes of our parents’concepts.Delightedly,they don’t bog down in detail,especially in bad aspect.And some parents begin to show their support to the gap year.Although the number of these supportive parents is small,it is gradually ?increasing.
In this tour,we may meet lots of difficulties,we can bloody many sides in one stone(I have mentioned many benefits,right?).Maybe one day ,teenagers in China can have a gap year easily just like peers in western countries and be more independent and tough enough to face all kinds of troubles and challenges in the tour and life.
