上述選摘自村上春樹《當我談跑步的時候我在談什么》。作者談作家是否需要天賦一說的看法，有天賦，自己才思泉涌這是優勢，助你飛翔的翅膀！可是自己不努力，不專注，如空有才思也不會成為好作家。相反，如果沒有所謂的天賦，沒有所謂的優勢，就更應該增加訓練增強耐力和專注，因為需要彌補沒有天賦的不足，用他們去發現自己真正被掩藏的天賦。村上春樹就將自己歸為沒有天賦一類，而自己成功源于focus ，endurance。
閱讀中無論是我們眼中的天才，還是疾患的自閉癥兒童，他們的成就成功雖不可完全抹去天賦之說，但我們不能夸大這因素的分量！我們可以感嘆“他天生這么聰明” ，但不能說“他的才能這是天生的，換別人不行”，因為是可以通過刻意聯系彌補你說缺少的天分。雖然有天才好像顯得普通人沒優勢，但幸運的是，能一直才思不竭的天才不多，要保住天才光環他們也需一直練習，馬達再好缺油也是枉然，我們知道的天才都是堅持堅韌專注到最后的，“傷仲永”也不少吧！
天賦是優勢，沒有也不應該自我放棄，應該付出更多努力，當自己付出引起質變時，也會成為別人口中的天賦。
