這一章Zinsser主要講述了他的一個寫作教學課程，以過程為導向，幫助學生尋找寫作的切入點。他提到了寫作的兩個中心基礎：quest和intention。我理解為寫作的初衷和目標。
弄清楚自己想寫些什么，把內容具象到一個人、一家店、一個小地方。從小事開始寫反而能越寫越大，從籠統開始寫往往卻故事發展不下去，走入死胡同。
其次要弄清楚自己想呈現一個什么樣的作品，以及如何去敘述和編排也很重要。
那么在文章開頭提到的，不要太在乎結果：能不能寫好、編輯會不會喜歡、能不能發表。這些都會影響作者的心態，讓他們無法探索自己內心想要寫的東西，容易被推著隨波逐流，無法寫出好的作品。
