Aim to gradually untangling , optimize andeven rebuild the thinking style of my doing things I tend to write down theprinciples how I should conduct things. This way, as I expect, will help me toreach a more efficient, faithful and happy state of life. Those principles, which I learned almost from Dr. Wu, will guide me to an excellent people.
1. growth withaccumulation(累積式成長)
The first principle is that I should do the things which can definitelypave the way for the rest of my life, rather than those barely benefit melater. For example, I shouldn’t have spent time on singing that I’ve everdetermined to manage the rap of See You Again about six months ago. It’s justbecause I won’t do something on singing. Not only indulge myself in the feelingof sweet songs at KTV but also to be good at it. What singing mean to me isjust amusing my girlfriend which doesn’t need practice, right? So what’s thepoint for me to spent time on it? That’s why it’s so ridiculous for me that Iever decided to spend much time to practice singing for the reason I hardlyhave forgotten. So cool? Probably. But it doesn’t matter to me anymore.
Now there still exist so many things thatstrike me with a sudden impulse such as dancing, Kong Fu, basketball, etc. ButI know well the consequence of these things will probably only last a few days. After the specific passion, I will not contact it anymore. To be honest, thesethings attract me very much and could certainly do me a favor. But the fact isthey are not continuous, systematic and is not embodied with the characteristicof accumulation just like the corn discarded along the path.
In ancient society of China technique was inherited by the way of oral pattern .Once accident happens in the process of inheritance, the precious technique will inevitably be dismissed forever. And we have no way but fumble from the very beginning. But in western, they tend to record the procedure, the details, the key point etc. Then they proceeded their work on predecessors’ foundation. They just stood on the shoulders of the giants. Once there existed a German scientist who recorded every details of porcelain procedure. Even now we can manage to make that type porcelain depend on the records. How terrific! How rigorous!
Then next time when you feel your growth isslow, perhaps because you are just the monkey who drops the corns along theway. You do not benefit from your former endeavor.
So just do the things that can continuous.
2. To besystematic ( 體系化 )
To be systematicmeans you must compile your knowledge you gained into a net. Sometimes you probablyfind that the knowledge in your mind is just in a mess that you can’t have aclear recognition. Furthermore, you will get lost in the chaos of in informationand your behavior will be hindered. A segment of knowledge is of no use to us. Theyare just like the catkins in the wind that we cannot control.
So if you want tomake the knowledge available, what you need to do is to be systematic. Forexample, Five-minute Business School is a commercial class which offerssystematic knowledge of business. Once you grasp it means you’ve developed afoundation of business with which you can explore and deepen the otherknowledge. The systematic knowledge could also guide your behavior.
To be systematicdemand you to ponder, rebuild and reconstruct the knowledge. This process isjust like gathering the scattered and loose sands all together or convergingall the random knowledge into a whole network. It’s not easy but it’s aneffective method to drive you to grasp the knowledge and use it.
3. To be an expert(成為專家)
To be an expert inyour specific field is much more difficult. Last time when I visited my uncle andtold him that I determined to be an expert in my research field he just said tome with distain. “It’s no easy to become an expert. What does a doctor count”. Butanyway, at least we ought to set a goal for our study or work. Our endeavorwill suffer if we lack that high motivation and goal.
Target-orientedprinciple is what we need on the path of work career and high goal will driveus keeping going forward forever.
4. Less is more(少就是多)
It’s no easy to dothe above things, right? Of course it’s not easy.
Then it’s time foryou to learn how to work on things, especially how to manage time.A lot of us have been busy all the time and thinkit a normal fact of life. But once you read you time and record your time maybeit’s so astonishing for you to find that you just spend much time on someunimportant things. Those things like Chatting with your friends on otherpeople’s private lives, browsing circle of friends or overindulgence yourselfon soap opera do not help your growth but evolve into a pastime of life. Spendingmuch time on those things means you are not a hard working person and make ithard for you to succeed in life.
Then you may sadthat you just don’t act like that, but you probably get stuck in the chimney ofanther flaw of how to do things. That is you just do not concentrate on the mostimportant things and do not realize “the important things to the extreme”. Gettingdistracted by mounts of things would influence your spirit on the pursuit of perfectionof important things and will make you a normal person.
Many of us know the film “Forrest Gump”.Forrest run at first just because Jenny told him that If you are ever introuble, don’t try to be brave, just run, just run away. But he run and run andfelt like running. The only thing he stuck to in his life was running. Eventuallyhe run with meaning and created a lot of miracles. He attached much moreimportance on running and owned an extraordinary life because of running.
So just cut off thosethings which are unnecessary. You need to realize that less is more. If you dothe most important things well, the rest of things just don’t matter.
All the principlesabove will not be gained without the powerful self-control and good habit. Now I’vealready formed several good habits like the scientific routine of life, writingand the reflection on my thinking and behavior style which will do me a favoron my growth.
I believe I coulddo it and you can do it, too.
