Summary for my reading: I feel much easier on reading this book today. I took only one hour on reading.
Central question of this chapter: This chapter shows the natural and cultural surroundings of Su's childhood, and the relationships among Su's families. We could see that Su got right values from his mother, kept an intimate brotherhood with his brother, andsurrounded by a strong atmosphere of studying in school. It is the original reasons why he could be great.
Words and natural expressions:
1. underling 部下，從屬。這個單詞Eric第一天就列到卡片上了，然而沒有記住。今天又一次出現了，get it。
2. be subjected to 遭受，承受。這個詞組上大學的時候綜英老師強調了很多次，還是忘記了。出現在文中……The scholars were subjected to bodily torture...讓我自己表達可能更多會用suffer, 或者take，不夠活潑流暢。
3. commit sth to memory這個詞組叫牢記某事。commit又是一個我經常反應不過來的詞，它有兩個意思的方向，一個是犯錯犯罪，比如commit murder, commit suicide(自殺)，另一個方向是跟說話有關，叫做做出保證，承諾某事。比如這樣一個句子:
Anna wants to get married, but Bob's not sure he wants to commit. 安娜想結婚，但鮑勃卻不能肯定自己是不是想作出承諾。
4.barbarian 野蠻人。前兩天老見這個詞，今天記下它，出現在提到西夏，大遼，金國的句子里。
5. no amount of 今天見它第二次了，做閱讀的時候見過它，但不太理解，晚上又在...one began to know that book in a way that no amount of reading would give him...

這里no amount of.reading理解為讀再多的書也不能如何。
