I wished I was more of a native English speaker—I had read some books, patchily, and a few minor knowledges about English spoken I had learned over the years, but nothing that would be of use to me now, when I needed to introduce the culture of my country to the world.
2.Attempting arson and violence upon the person of a poor old lady living upon her own, who would be entirely at the mercy of every passing vagabond, were it not for the kindness of her little friends. (?)
3.For he could no longer reconcile his old idea of giving the star to Victoria Forester with his current notion that the star was not a thing to be passed from hand to hand, but a true person in all respects and no kind of a thing at all. And yet, Victoria Forester was the woman he loved.
另外,Victoria在這個時候成為過去時了,was the woman he loved.
Summary
Septimus attempted to commit arson on the hut of the witch-queen, and planned to beat her to death on she running away the hut. But a venomous snake appeared and bited Septimus. Then the witch walked out, magically unhurt, and put Septimus to shame. The venom killed him eventually.
Madame Semele arrived in Diggory’s Dyke, along with Tristran and the star. The witch-queen forced Madame Semele to tell the truth about the passagers on the carriage. But she did not mention the star, which we could be certain of that she incapable of perceiving the existence of the star, utterly. So the with-queen letted them go.
They approached near the town of Wall, safely and soundly. Tristran transformed back and regained his own form. The prospect of going into Wall makes the star felt nervous. Tristran reassured the star and now they arrived in the gap in the wall.
