遇到一個單詞：doppelg?nger，是一個堂而皇之出現在英文語句中的德語單詞，有翻譯成“二重身”或者“幽靈”的，解釋也比較瘆得慌
“Doppelg?nger”在德語中的意思是“兩人同行”，在這里是指隱藏在每個人心靈中的另一個看不見的自我。從理論上講，只有自己才能看見自己的“二重身”，不過這一半對于人的肉眼來說是無法捕捉到的（看見自己的二重身是不祥的征兆，據說英國女王伊麗莎白一世在臨終前稱自己看到了另一個自己，說完后就死了），只有小貓小狗才能看見它的存在。二重身在鏡子里不會留下任何映像，也不會投下影子，但它每時每刻都站在人的身后，監視著人的一舉一動，并將自己的建議灌入人的腦中或滲透入人的心里，從而形成思想。[^do]

字母 ?，上面的兩個小點是表示什么意思呢？
這個符號被稱為“umlaut”（元音變音）：Properly speaking, only German and Hungarian words have these two dots over a vowel to indicate a change in sound (as indoppelg?nger and über), but loosely, people sometimes refer to its twin, the dieresis (as in na?ve) as an umlaut. The word is German and means "change of sound," from um, "about," and laut, "sound."[^a1]
Although there is nothing wrong with using the umlaut over the a in doppelg?nger, English is not kind to umlauts, and the mark is omitted as often as not. The word has been in English for about two centuries, so it now goes unitalicized and without quotation marks, and there’s no need to define it on each use.[^a2]

遇到幾個發音不規律的單詞
- rapport（[r?'p??r]，t不發音）：相處融洽
- coup（[ku]，p不發音）：政變
- recipe（發音是：[?r?s?pi?]，而不是['risaip]）：食譜
這些單詞都是從法語進入到英語中來的，所以受到原來法語的發音影響
好奇每一個英語字母的來源，所以研究了一下，英語有四個主要的發展階段：
- Old English （公元5世紀到1066年諾曼人對英格蘭的軍事征服）[1]
- Middle English （1066年到1470年左右印刷機的發明）[2]
- Early Modern English （15世紀到17世紀莎士比亞時期）[3]
- Modern English （17世紀以后）[4]
英語的字母在這幾個時期之間也在不斷的發生變化：最早的原生字母叫做 Anglo-Saxon runes[5]，后來隨著基督教的到來，開始使用 Latin script (also Roman script)[6]，在經歷了很長時間的一段自我完善期以后才逐步穩定下來了目前的26個字母。
背單詞的時候常會遇到一些意思近似看起來差不多的單詞，我覺得可以稱為一個詞區，這里我慢慢試圖建立起來一個詞區的分析方法：

到后面術語部分就已經非常的界限模糊了，詞都是較低頻或者極度低頻的在專業領域內進行使用了，考慮到世界上數千個學術領域[8]都有可能對某個單詞進行學術化使用和擴充，而且每次擴充都可以像“基礎部分”一樣廣泛延展，所以某一個單詞在詞區內的單詞數少則數十個，多則上千個（非常佩服英語才單詞層面的創造能力）。
