Today is Saturday.

The other girls help Sarah to told Allen the lost book. The librarian was very sorry for hearing that matter. She looked the price up in the catalogue and told the girls that asked how much they had. Sarah just had seventeen cents which were saved for buying a doll, but the book cost one dollar. Allen told them the real price of the book, but she also told Sarah that she didn't have to pay for the book right now if she promised that she would pay. Sarah burst into tears when she heard that. Finally the girls took the book they wanted from the library and ran home with joy. Allen looked at the girls. How quaint they were in their stiffly starched white aprons over dark woolen dresses. They looked for all the world like wide-open umbrellas. Had she been able to peek under these dresses, she would have understood why they billowed out in such a manner. Underneath were three petticoats, a woolly, flannel one first, a simple cotton one next, with both of these topped by a fancy muslin garment which was starched to a scratchy crispness. In order to saving the money, Mama made these all by herself.
