1.帶有 -ing 的單詞

看到或聽到以 -ing 結尾的單詞時，有三種可能：它是一個形容詞、動名詞（以 -ing 結尾的名詞）或動詞進行式。

Adjectives

My job is unchallenging. 我的工作毫無挑戰性。

My work with the Peace Corps was very rewarding. 與和平隊共事非常有意義。

動名詞

Working during the day and studying at night isn't easy. 白天工作晚上學習很不容易。

動詞

I am studying to become a teacher. 我正在為成為一名教師而學習。

He was working in a bank when he decided to change his career. 決定

2.非真實條件句

使用非真實條件句說明非真實的未來境況、想象的或不可能發生的事物。在 if 引導的分句中使用一般過去時，并在結果分句中使用 would + 動詞原形。

If I had a lot of money, I'd travel around the world. 如果我有很多錢，我就會環游世界。

如果結果分句出現在于 if 之前，則無需逗號(,)。

I'd travel around the world if I had a lot of money. 如果我有很多錢，我就環游世界。

非真實條件句中動詞 be 的正確一般過去式是 were。

If he were a teacher, he'd be happier. 如果他是教師，他就會更加開心。

If they were younger, they'd travel around the world. 如果他們再年輕一些，他們就會環游世界。

但是，在俗語中，你將經常聽到 was。

I'd be a basketball player if I was taller. 如果我能高一點，我就是籃球運動員了。
