昨天，培訓(xùn)班里的一個同學(xué)講到，老師以前講到的 whether 的用法全都忘光了。 嗨，是呀！有時我也想：像一些不常用的詞匯為什么總是要比較來比較去。學(xué)生被語法項目攪得暈頭轉(zhuǎn)向。但是中學(xué)階段的基礎(chǔ)語法還是非常重要的。所以同學(xué)們必須要重視中學(xué)階段的英語語法的學(xué)習(xí)和鞏固。下面我就來總結(jié)一下 whether的主要用法。

用whether的情況：

1. 與or not連用時，只能用whether不用if。 ? ?

We don’t know whether or nor they will win the games. ? ?

我們不知道他們是不是能夠贏得這些項目。

2. 從句作介詞賓語時只用whether不用if。 ? ?

It depends on whether it will be fine.那得看是不是晴天。 ?

3. 作discuss等動詞的賓語時，用whether不用if。 ?

They discussed whether they should except the invitation。 ? ?他們討論是不是該接受這個邀請。

4. 與to do 不定式連用時只能用whether不用if。

He wondered whether to stay here the next weak.

他想知道下周是否還要待在這。

5. 在強(qiáng)調(diào)任意選擇時,用whether…or, 此時不用if替換whether。 ? ?He asked me whether I wanted to go there by train or by bus. ?

他問我是想乘火車還是坐公共汽車去那里。 ?

6. 雖引導(dǎo)賓語從句，但為了強(qiáng)調(diào)賓語部分，也可把從句放在句首，此時只用whether不用if。

Whether he will come I am not sure.他是不是來我拿不準(zhǔn)。

7.句子中有if引導(dǎo)的條件句，如再有表示“是否”的賓語從句，用whether不用if。 ?

He asked me whether I’d move to New York if I got the job.

他問我如果我得到那份工作是否會搬家到紐約。

8.在引導(dǎo)主語從句、表語從句、同位語從句時一般用whether不用if。如：

⑴Whether it is true remains a question. ?

(主語從句)那是不是真的還是個問題。

⑵The question is whether it is true. ?

(表語從句)問題是是不是真的。 ?⑶We have a doubt whether it is true. ?

(同位語從句) 我們懷疑那是不是真的。
