上個周末畢業了。在園子里走過六年，師長教誨、朋輩情深都還歷歷在目，如今就要奔赴大江南北，依依惜別，十分不舍。

每當畢業季，總會被國外大學的畢業典禮講話(Graduation Speech)刷屏。可是我覺得我們的畢業典禮講話一點也不差哈哈（瘋狂熱愛母校臉.jpg），凝聚了我們民族特有的家國情懷，精邃做事、正心為人，和對光榮與夢想不懈的追求。

嘗試將邱勇校長在2017年研究生畢業典禮上的講話譯為英文；我想如果能將我們大學培養人的理念和對畢業生的期許傳播世界各地，也一樣熠熠閃光。

Dear students and teachers, distinguished guests and friends:

親愛的同學們，老師們，親友們，來賓們：

Today is particularly worth remembering. First of all, I would like to extend my warm congratulations to more than 5,000 students who have received doctorate or master's degree on behalf of our university! And say thank you to all your parents and teachers who have been raising you meticulously!

今天，是一個特別值得銘記的日子。首先我代表學校向5000多名獲得博士、碩士學位的同學表示熱烈的祝賀！向辛勤培育你們的父母和各位老師致以衷心的感謝！

Graduation is a new starting point in one’s life—you have succeeded in your study and would step out of university to embrace new life.I believe that everyone is looking forward to the future and has your own “small goals” and “big dreams”. The future is indeed worth expected because this is an innovative era full of infinite possibilities—any ideas can come true.

畢業是人生新的起點，學有所成的你們即將跨出校門，擁抱新的生活。我相信，每一個人心中都有自己的“小目標”和大夢想，對未來都充滿期待。未來也確實值得期待，因為這是一個充滿無限可能的創新時代，任何想法都有可能變成現實。

Although this is an era full of infinite hope, it is also an era which drive people fickle easily. Stories of skyrocketing rise, swift fame and overnight rich are all eye-catching and heated topics. A wide variety of successful people have received envy eyes from the public, but their struggle process is often neglected. This is a fast-changing world and increasingly-competitive society. People often forget what they should insist when their footsteps become more and more hurry. People often indulge in all kinds of novelty experience and lost themselves without knowing where to go when enjoying the convenience brought by modern technology. Here, I would like to emphasize and advocate: less fickleness and more passion, maintain a quiet and determined mind and constantly achieve new heights in persistent endeavour.

這是一個充滿無限希望的時代，但也是一個容易讓人浮躁的時代。一步登天、一舉成名、一夜暴富的故事，吸引著人們的眼球，成為熱議的話題。各種各樣的成功人物，引來人們羨慕的眼光，但他們奮斗的過程卻往往不被人注意。這是一個快速變化的世界，這是一個競爭日趨激烈的社會，在腳步變得越來越匆忙的時候，人們常常忘記了人生該堅守什么。人們享受著現代科技帶來的便利，也往往沉溺于各類新奇體驗而迷失了自我，不知心安何處，不知走向何方。今天，我想向大家強調的是，少一些浮躁，多一份情懷，葆有一顆安靜篤定的心，在執著奮斗中不斷成就人生新的高度。

Less fickleness means settle yourself down, be a down-to earth learner and dedicate to moving forward. There is a simple truth that all dreams can only be realized through solid work. Life has no shortcut and success is by no means accidental. No matter how high the mountain is, you can only climb step by step.Mr. Zhu Ziqing once wrote in a poem: “Get rid of entanglement and regain an ordinary man! Since then I do not look up into the blue sky nor look down into the white water, but only focus on my feet—I want to tread into the soil step by step with deep footprints.” Success can never be achieved overnight and the struggling process itself is an indispensable part of success. If one must say that there is shortcut to success, then it must be long-term unremitting struggle. Professor Pan Jiluan of Tsinghua University is 90 years old this year; he chose welding as his major, devoted his life to China’s welding development, successfully solved the welding arc control and a series of major technical problems. These achievements played a key role in the construction of China’s first self-designed nuclear power plant and first high-speed railway. In fact, Tsinghua has lots of alumni like Professor Pan Jilang. I suggest that we give our sincere applause and high respect to all those down-to-earth, persistent and progressive seniors!

少一些浮躁，沉下心去，腳踏實地，執著向前。所有夢想只有在實干中才能實現，這是最樸素的道理。人生沒有捷徑，成功絕非偶然。無論攀登多高的山峰，向上的步伐也只能一步一步邁出。朱自清先生曾在一首詩中寫到：“擺脫掉糾纏，還原了一個平平常常的我！從此我不再仰臉看青天，不再低頭看白水，只謹慎著我雙雙的腳步，我要一步一步踏在泥土上，打上深深的腳印。”真正的成功從來都不是一蹴而就的，奮斗的過程本身就是成功不可或缺的部分。如果一定要說成功有捷徑，長期不懈的奮斗就是成功最大的捷徑。我校機械系教授潘際鑾院士今年正好90歲，他在讀書時選擇了焊接專業，此后便一生致力于中國的焊接事業，成功解決了焊接電弧控制等一系列重大技術難題。這些成果在建設我國第一座自行設計的核電站和第一條高鐵中發揮了關鍵作用。實際上，清華有很多像潘際鑾院士這樣的校友。我建議，我們用掌聲向所有腳踏實地、執著進取的前輩學長們致以崇高的敬意！

Less fickleness means to withstand the temptation during life journey and keep yourself under peace. This colorful world seems to be able to provide all opportunities and it seems that everyone may possess everything. People often follow the trend blindly and unconsciously, lacking proper analysis and judgment when facing choice. Thus, we must adhere to our inner values, know how to choose and what to refuse. There is a Chinese old saying: “You are the only one for me in this multifarious world.” There are thousands of beautiful things in our life, but only by focusing on our true love can we fulfill careers and dreams. Try hard to keep your mind under peace and to maintain a calm-enterprising attitude. Tao Yuanming’s poem told us:

“I built my cottage among the habitations of men,

And yet there is no clamor of carriages and horses.

You ask: “Sir, how can this be done?”

A heart that is distant creates its own solitude.This is not because there is no noise and disturbance around where the poet lived, but because the poet himself has a peaceful mind.

少一些浮躁，抵御住人生道路上的各種誘惑，保持心中的那份靜氣。這個五彩繽紛的世界似乎可以提供所有的機會，也似乎每個人都可能擁有一切。人們經常盲目地跟風而不自知，面對選擇時往往缺乏應有的分析和判斷。要堅守內心的價值觀，懂得選擇和拒絕。中國古語講：“弱水三千，只取一瓢飲”，人生美好的事物成千上萬，但只有專注內心真正的熱愛，才能成就一番事業。要努力涵養內心的靜氣，保持一種平和進取的心態。陶淵明在詩中寫到：“結廬在人境，而無車馬喧。問君何能爾？心遠地自偏。” 不是詩人居住的地方真的沒有車聲馬叫的喧擾，是因為詩人心中有靜氣，因而有靜土。

I hope you can consciously practice our university’s spirit as a Tsinghua-er—that is “actions speak louder than words”—and refused to be fickle. Moreover, I hope you can forge ahead in this byzantine world with your own passion. Some people may think that it is difficult to carry the gravity of life and passion is a fragile luxury. But you have to remember that it is pleasant and noble passion which determine your life level.

我希望你們作為清華人，自覺踐行“行勝于言”的校風，拒絕浮躁。我更希望你們在枝蔓叢生的世界里砥礪前行，心系遠方，擁有一份屬于自己的情懷。也許有人認為情懷是一種易碎的奢侈品，難以承載生活的重力。但是你們要記住，正是美好高尚的情懷決定了人生的高度。

A person with passion will pursue elegant aspiration and pay attention to the feelings of soul at any time. For example, when reading a book, a person with passion would want to acquire enlightenment wisdom with no utilitarian consideration. Life is a process full of intersections of joys and sorrows, and cannot always be filled with simple pleasure or no eternal misery. Ups and downs are normal parts of it. A passion would make you know where you belong to and keep your mind calm. No matter where you are, what kind of situation you face, what kind of difficulties you may deal with in the future , I hope you will never give up your pleasant and noble passion.

一個有情懷的人，會追求高雅的志趣，在任何時候都能夠保持自己的心境，注重心靈的感受。就像讀一本書，一個有情懷的人只希望汲取營養、啟迪智慧，而沒有任何功利的考量。生命是悲喜交集的歷程，不可能總是單純的愉悅，也不會有永遠的悲苦，起起落落，反而是人生常態。有一份情懷能讓你心有所屬，保持心靈的淡定。無論未來你們身居何處，面對何種世態，應對何種困難，希望你們永遠不要放棄美好的個人情懷。

This will make you harvest rich and high-quality life, but I appreciate the noble passion for social more. I hope that you are not limited to the pursuit of romantic and pleasant individual life, but become a person who has social passion. People with social passion would always has a strong sense of responsibility and mission towards country and nation, and always have a love towards human and natural. Poet Du Fu, living in Tang Dynasty, lived in the sparsely furnished family in his later years, but he still concerned whether poor scholars nationwide had their own shelters. Each year, large amounts of Tsinghua graduates give up the stability of bustling city stability, resolutely rooted in grass-roots—they are immersed in it and enjoy it. I do hope that each Tsinghua-er could consistently keep motherland, society and world in your mind.

美好的個人情懷會讓你收獲豐富而有質感的人生，但我更欣賞的是那種跳出自我的高尚的社會情懷。我希望你們不僅僅局限于追求個體生命的浪漫和愉悅，更能成為一個具有社會情懷的人。有社會情懷的人，始終對國家、民族懷有強烈的責任感和使命感，始終擁有一顆對人類、自然的大愛之心。唐代大詩人杜甫晚年家徒四壁，可他想的依舊是何時可以獲得廣廈，大庇天下寒士。每年，清華都有很多畢業生放棄繁華都市里的安穩，毅然選擇了一條扎根基層的道路，他們身在其中并樂在其中。我希望每一個清華人心中都要有祖國河山、有社會大任、有世界格局。

Dear students, new life is unfolding in front of you. You are young, possess bright future and ample time. Hope that the pleasant and noble passion would glow your life with beautiful lustre, and make achievements of yourself, the others and the world during your life journey!

同學們，新的生活正在你們面前展開。年輕的你們前途似海、來日悠長，希望美好高尚的情懷讓你們的生命煥發出美麗的光彩，在各自的人生旅程中，成就自己、成就他人、成就世界！

Today is also a reminiscent day, I hope you would remember, Tsinghua is always your warm home. Welcome home at any time!
