英文里有兩個說法，Less is more和Slow is fast。乍一看很新奇，但其實和我們中文里說的以小見大、欲速則不達是異曲同工的。

這兩句話作為英文學習的方法也是非常合適的，很多學習者在背單詞加大詞匯量，往往忽略了很多簡單好用的小詞。用好一些小詞，會讓你的英文更顯地道，簡練，less is more。而語言學習沒有捷徑，無法追求速度，像嬰兒學話，經年累月，不停重復，慢慢熟練，slow is fast。

上周用幾個小詞進行了造句的練習，比如shape和count。

shape是形狀，作動詞的時候表示“塑形，塑造，影響”，比如Like it or not, our families shape our lives and make us what we are.

我造了個簡單的句子：

Exercise shapes the body, and reading the mind.

count是數，數的時候你不會漏掉的東西是比較重要的，所以count可以表示某事很重要。有兩個很好用的句式

What counts is not A，but B

重要的不是A而是B，

A counts more than B

A比B更重要。

這里的count也可以用matter來簡單代替。

我造的兩個句子是

When it comes to home education, what counts the most is not your lecture, but your behavior.

The time you spend with your children matters more than the money you spend on them.
