今日翻譯打卡第15天，完成Unit Ten漢譯英的練習。這是老舍先生的一篇散文《養(yǎng)花》，語言通俗，翻譯起來雖然比較順手，可是英語的地道性還不夠，繼續(xù)加油~
1.我愛花，所以也愛養(yǎng)花。我可還沒成為養(yǎng)花專家，因為沒有功夫去作研究與實驗。
一般譯法：I love flowers and thus I love growing flowers. But I haven’t become an expert at flower growing because I don’t have enough time to do research and experiment.
優(yōu)質(zhì)譯法：I love flowers and hence have taken to growing them. But, short of time to do research and experiment in flower cultivation, I am no gardener at all.
技巧點撥：take to 表示“喜歡上，開始從事”，更地道地表達了前后句的邏輯關(guān)系。“養(yǎng)花專家”直接翻譯為gardener，“沒有功夫”譯為short of time比don’t have time 更增加了句式靈活性。
2.在我的小院中，到夏天，滿是花草，小貓兒們只好上房去玩耍，地上沒有它們的運動場。
一般譯法：When summer comes, there are full of flowers and plants in my little garden and cats can only play on the roof because there is no room for them on the ground.
優(yōu)質(zhì)譯法：In summer, flowers and plants growing in luxuriance in my small courtyard will leave little space for the little cats, so they have to sport about in our rooms instead.
技巧點撥：第一句簡單用and并列，前后因果關(guān)系不夠突出，而第二句翻譯時首先用現(xiàn)在分詞作定語growing in luxuriance來修飾“花草”，主干部分用will leave little space for緊密地聯(lián)系了后半句，英文結(jié)構(gòu)更清晰。另外，注意“上房”不是“去房頂”而是“去房間”。
3.北京的氣候，對養(yǎng)花來說，不算很好。冬天冷，春天多風，夏天不是干旱就是大雨傾盆；秋天最好，可是忽然會鬧霜凍。
優(yōu)質(zhì)譯法：Beijing’s climate is more or less unfit for the growing of flowers, freezing in winter, windy in spring, and either too dry or too often visited by rainstorms in summer. While autumn is the best of all, it is often plagued by a sudden frost.
技巧點撥：注意“不算很好”的譯法，一般直接譯成not so good太口語化，這里譯成more or less unfit。另外，“鬧霜凍”不太好處理，譯成be plagued by a sudden frost，plague一般意思為“n. 瘟疫，災難，v. 使苦惱”。
補充：“鬧笑話”make a fool of oneself；“鬧別扭”be difficult with somebody
4.(花兒)有的喜蔭，就別放在太陽地里，有的喜干，就別多澆水。
優(yōu)質(zhì)譯法：Some flowers which are accustomed to growing in the shade should not be too much exposed to the sun. Those which prefer dryness should not be watered too often.
技巧點撥：注意“喜蔭”一詞的譯法，另外“放在太陽地”譯作be exposed to the sun，翻譯時注意語言的準確與地道性。
5.要是趕上狂風暴雨或天氣突變哪，就得全家動員，搶救花草，十分緊張。
一般譯法：If a rainstorm drops by or the weather changes in a sudden way, the whole family will take actions to rescue the flowers and plants, which is quite pressing.
優(yōu)質(zhì)譯法：In case of a violent storm or a sudden change of weather, the whole family will have to turn out to salvage the flowers and plants. Everybody will then feel keyed up.
技巧點撥：注意key up表示“使緊張不安”
6.有喜有憂，有笑有淚，有花有實，有香有色，既需勞動，又長見識，這就是養(yǎng)花的樂趣。
優(yōu)質(zhì)譯法：Joy and sorrow, laughter and tears, flowers and fruit, fragrance and color, manual labor and increased knowledge --- all these make up the joy of flower cultivation.
技巧點撥：翻譯時注意名詞詞組的并列。
