前面章節所說的風格、結構、意圖都是大的決定。這篇章節講小的決定，文章的架構。Zinsser提到組織好文章結構的重要性等同于寫清晰、令人愉悅的句子。一篇文章要簡潔有序，邏輯清晰還有敘述技巧。

萬事開頭難，寫作亦是如此。一個（挑逗）讓人欲罷不能的開頭可以抓住讀者持續不斷地看下去。開頭可長可短.Zinsser還提到不要害怕把長句變為兩個或三個短句，每個句子只可以包含一個想法思想。行文中可以增加耳熟能詳的傳說故事。

好的文章不會是平淡無奇的，文章中要體現作者的個性與聲音。
