最近在看這本書，書中的Chips我一直稱他為老頭，可能每次在做讀書筆記都這樣稱號，慢慢地，感覺他真的像位老爺爺一樣在我身旁給我講他的故事一樣。今天讀到的這一節難免覺得傷心??，老頭失去了心愛的妻子，也失去了自己的寶寶，作為讀者都感受到老頭的難受，可以想像得出老頭是有多么的難過。

書中描繪了一位學生向老頭請假，又說著可能趕不上做禮拜（Chapel）,緊接著又說到我可以去火車站接他們嗎？不懂事的學生沒有觀察到老頭的傷心，卻一直問了很多關于請假的問題。難怪老頭恍惚地說到：好的，好的.......然后說到：

‘You can go to blazes for all I care . My wife is dead and my child is dead, and I wish I were dead myself

"你可以去地獄也不關我的事..." 當老頭說出My wife is dead and my child is dead時，我才意識到老頭是在這一天失去了生命中最重要的兩個人.....

Sir, may I have the afternoon off?? My people are coming up.?

請半天假，前一天假：may i have the day off???

My people 用于口語表示我的親人，come up 表示即將要來，注意up的用法
