在創作《Fight Song》的過程中，瑞秋·普拉滕處于一個低谷期[4]。在長時間工作但并未得到相應的回報后，她認為她需要開始考慮其它的事情，于是便有了歌曲的創作靈感。而通過創作這首歌曲，她做出了不放棄她自己的決定[5]。2013年11月，瑞秋·普拉滕同她的朋友兼合作者、曲作者戴夫·巴塞特在馬里布的錄音室寫下了《Fight Song》的早期版本，隨后一年多的時間內制作出了最終的成品。在創作過程中，她共寫下了五至六種不同的主歌及四種不同的橋段[6
